Past Projects
A sampling of projects for which we have had complete design responsibility.

A radio/telephone voice and data network scheme for managing a nation-wide mobile radio system consisting of thousands of interconnected units (the AmeriCom protocol).

Digital switching system implementing the AmeriCom protocol.

Industrial motor controls using photon coupled thyristors for power control and digital mode control.

A digital F.M. radio squelch circuit using a custom integrated circuit.

A digital radio network designed for the burglar alarm industry using duplex 900 MHz radios (high level design and proof-of-concept).

An 800 MHz voice and data radio for the Specialized Mobile Radio Service (system control including networking protocol and support ASICs - radio design done by others).

A digital radio network designed for parcel delivery trucks. This system uses special radio transmission techniques that reduce the effects of multi-path fading in a mobile radio environment (high level design including radio antenna and propagation issues).

An Infrared Absorption Correlation Gas Detector for in situ measurement of methane.

A Holter Heart Monitor system that performs an analysis of human heart beats detecting arrhythmia and ectopic beats. It uses custom analog-to-digital conversion circuits as well as a combination of heuristic and algorithmic software.

A Medical Diagnostic Workstation. This system is used to process a variety of medical information for the purpose of performing medical diagnostics.

Digital Audio amplifier using digital switching techniques to more faithfully regenerate analog information in a transducer (usually, but not limited to, audio reproduction).

Digital Audio data network. This system delivers digital representations of analog information (usually audio) to multiple transducers (usually loudspeakers) together with the associated network control information.

Corona discharge Ozone generator.

Isoprene measurement detection instrument detecting the photons emitted when Isoprene combines with Ozone.

VHF digital counting system to measure the photon related output of a photo-multiplier tube while reducing output caused by spurious events.

A computer controlled conditional air sampling system for measuring atmospheric trace-gas flux.

Many data acquisition systems to quantify simultaneously wind, soil and air temperature, Solar output, water vapor and carbon dioxide flux.

Several Chronographs measuring the velocity of super-sonic projectiles.

Radio and Infrared communication links used to locate small instruments in four dimensional SpaceTime to less than 1 mm/ds.

A networking architecture specifically designed for instrument systems requiring high fidelity temporal coordination and correlation regardless of network latency variations (D-S-N). This architecture includes protocols for the these issues: addressing, packet routing, time values associated with UTC, time markers and triggers that can be shared by many devices, precise device location describing every point on Earth including orbital altitudes, a data transfer protocol that delivers error corrected data even when communication links are interrupted for days.

A real-time, multi-tasking operating system providing the precision timing hooks required for good temporal coordination and correlation (HT-DOS). This OS provides a common "DOS" environment compatible with standard compilers and assemblers.

PC/104 hardware supporting D-S-N protocols, a muti-tasking environment that allows 12 RS-232 ports, Ethernet, 42-16 bit resolution A-to-D converters, 14-16 bit resolution low jitter Nyquist A-to-D converter, 128 - 60 VDC switches, 2 gBytes Flash storage (not all combinations at once).

Constant flow pump control system used in trace gas analysis and conditional sampling systems (US Patent 5269659).
