Supervisory Controllers and Data Loggers (SuperLoggers)

Our SuperLoggers are Safari Grade hardware running our real-time HT-DOS multi-tasking operating system. They are housed in thick aluminum cases and have no cooling air passing through them. They require DC automotive battery type power (10-30 VDC is the standard VIN). Up to 10 Amps of this power is switched on and off in the SuperLogger then distributed to other connected SCADA equipment (RTUs, controllers, and/or instruments).

SuperLoggers provide a local MasterClock corrected using an included GPS receiver. This helps insure excellent temporal correlation of data and process. This SuperLogger subsystem also provides locational information available to all connected equipment and software modules.

SuperLoggers control connected equipment in the local place. They usually have the managing software. Our RTUs, specialized controllers and instruments connect back to this device from most locations within 500 meters -- using HT-LAN technology. HT-LAN is both a data and power connection. SuperLoggers have three standard sockets for HT-LAN devices.

SuperLoggers store data. Each has at least one Compact Flash slot and is able to store as much as 2 GB of raw and/or processed data -- often enough for days, weeks or months. These data can be read using Linux, MAC or Windows type computers.

  • Local SuperLoggers
    are the user interface. They provide a 26 mm LCD-SVGA display and a standard keyboard port (no mouse). Optionally, a waterproof 12 button keypad is available.

  • Remote SuperLoggers
    are designed for Internet connection. They have very powerful interface accessible from a local laptop as well as the Internet. These 2 U rackmount heavy aluminum boxes are sealed; they do not have air flowing through them. The Compact Flash drive, a few push buttons and small display are locked behind a dust and water resistant door. The HT-LAN, GPS antenna, and power connectors are on the back. Remote SuperLoggers are scheduled for release in Jan. 2009.


    Conditional Sampling Segregators

    Hampton Technologies builds two basic types of conditional sampling controllers designed to separate air samples based on wind arrival vectors. System software makes algorithmic deductions determining to which accumulator the segregator should direct instant samples. Our current software falls into two basic categories:

  • REA (relaxed eddy accumulation), segregated by vertical arrival vector, and
  • CSA (compass sector accumulation), segregated by horizontal arrival vector.

    While we currently manufacture two segregators; each can use REA or CSA software. One (Whole Air Segregator) is a low flow rate device dividing the air flow into three output channels. The other (Denuder Air Segregator) is a high flow rate device dividing the flow among three input channels.

  • Whole Air Segregator
    This controller pulls sample through an inlet tube (and prefilter) using a non-contaminating internal pump then, into a three-way manifold valve where it is directed toward the software selected output. The accumulators are downstream from the segregator. Programmable flow rates to 1 liter/min.

  • Denuder Air Segregator
    This controller needs a constant pressure vacuum pump system at its output. Its internal valves place the vacuum on one of its three input ports. The sample accumulators are located ahead of the input ports -- so, the segregator software selects when sample air flows through each. Since the accumulation occurs upstream from the segregator, sample contamination by the valves, pump, flow meter, tubing, etc. is less an issue. Programmable flow rates to 60 liters/min. (Early versions of this segregator (as shown) have been built and are being tested. Product release is scheduled for Jan 2009.)
    Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)

    RTUs are small low-powered HT-DOS computers used to control external devices and gather information. They commonly have analog-to-digital converters, on/off switches and RS-232 ports. They host application specific software. Standard RTU
    Most applications needing an RTU can be built around our standard unit.


  • DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM:

    Hampton Technologies sells a development system for customers wanting to use our components (often mixed with their own) in specialized SCADA and instrumentation systems.

    This is a workstation type computer with a flat LCD-SVGA display and keyboard (no mouse). It provides our standard hardware and software environment with these features:

  • HT-DOS and ClockBoard,
  • our 16 bit 14 channel analog-to-digital board,
  • our general purpose I/O board (hardware switch delay, PWM DAC, etc.),
  • an HT-LAN port supplying VIN and communications to our RTUs,
  • two RS-232 ports,
  • a PC-LPT port,
  • an Ethernet port,
